You are responsible for your educational choices, including decisions about your major and courses. Academic advisers are available to assist you in educational planning and to help you learn information specific to Penn State. Researching your decisions early will help you take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to you at Penn State.
In order to prepare for the educational decisions you will make, complete the following assignments before attending New Student Orientation:
Emergency Contact and Missing Person Information
In the event of an emergency, Penn State may need to contact you or a family member. You are required to complete your Emergency Contact and Missing Person Notification information prior to attending NSO. To do this, you must visit the eLion webpage, click on Students and then log-in with your Friends of Penn State (FPS) User ID. Once in the system, select Address Information under the Personal Profile section. After updating your address information, you will be prompted to re-enter your password. Where it says "Access Account IS", your FPS User ID will already be entered. Enter your FPS password where it says "Access Account Password".
Understanding a Penn State Degree
This interactive module will help you to understand the general goals Penn State has for your education, the basic structure of Penn State's curriculum and how to read the University Bulletin's information regarding degree requirements.

Course Registration Overview
This interactive module will help you to understand factors affecting your course selection, how to use the Schedule of Courses and eLion to schedule those classes, and some ways to fine-tune your schedule.
Exploring Your Academic Choices
This assignment will allow you to examine some of the academic decisions you have made so far, and start to explore some decisions you will need to make about your education in the near future. You should bring a print copy of this completed assignment (along with your Recommended Academic Plans) with you to NSO.
