Let's Glow State Events

Start the fall semester with an exciting night at the HUB-Robeson Center! Let's Glow State is from 9:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. immediately following President's New Student Convocation and is a packed lineup of free activities, entertainment, and giveaways—all brought to you by your Student Initiated Fee.

Whether you're looking to play mini golf, check out the acrobat act, win some prizes, or relax and watch a movie, there's something for everyone. All activities are free for students. Some events have limited quantities and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your Penn State ID and your Welcome Week energy!

Lower-Level Activities

  • Campus Store – Glow up your Penn State style! Visit the Penn State Campus Store to explore the latest merchandise and grab a special coupon when you enter the store.
  • Drag and Dirty Soda Party – Join the drag queens for some delicious sodas in the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity.
  • MyResource – Check out the office for many student resources that can help you on your academic journey.
  • Caricature Portraits – Grab a friend and have a laugh while getting a cartoon portrait of yourselves.

Ground Floor Activities

  • Karaoke – Show off your vocal skills in the Lion’s Lair.
  • The Great Dubois – Check out Michael and Victoria’s incredible two-person acrobat performance at the bottom of the Monumental Staircase.
  • Photobooth – Snag a photo with some friends for Let’s Glow State at the Ground Floor Stage.
  • Outdoor Movie – Just looking to chill? Enjoy the evening air with The Super Mario Bros. Movie on HUB Lawn starting at 9:15 p.m.
  • Celestial Glow Canvas Painting – Pick up a take and make art kit that contains all the materials needed to create a fun and relaxing glow-in-the-dark painting courtesy of the Center for Arts and Crafts! Paint your design on a black stretched canvas, add glow paint and glow-in-the-dark stars to illuminate the night!
  • Glow Up Your Relationships – Join the R-VOICE Center for a glow-themed challenge exploring healthy relationships, communication, boundaries, and consent. Work through real-life scenarios and earn a glow-themed prize while building skills for respectful and healthy interactions.
  • THON Store – The THON Store will be open until 11:00 p.m. Stop by to shop exclusive THON merchandise and connect with THON Merchandise and Communications Captains.
  • PRCC After Dark: Let's Glow – Stop by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center during Let’s Glow Penn State for an unforgettable night of games, food, music, and fun! Meet new people, enjoy late-night treats, and celebrate the beginning of the academic year in a vibrant and welcoming community space. All students are welcome!
  • HUB Dining Samples – Enjoy some small snack samples outside of the Starbucks on the Ground Floor.
  • Roaming Magician – Find our roaming magician and watch him perform some magic tricks. 
  • Panda Express – Enjoy late night Panda Express, open until 11:00 p.m. 
  • Burger King – Enjoy late night Burger King, open until 11:00 p.m.

First Floor Activities

  • Gameshows – A chance to win real cash and prizes in Heritage Hall from 9:15 p.m. –10:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.
  • Stuff-a-Plush – Create your own custom animal plush in HUB 131 (while supplies last). Doors open at 9:45 p.m.
  • Silent Disco – Dance to your own beat (glow in the dark style) in Flex Theatre.
  • Glow in the Dark Mini Golf – Show off your golfing skills-but in the dark! Find both mini golf courses in Alumni Hall.
  • Recreation Station – Visit Campus Recreation for games, prizes, and information about the programs, facilities, and opportunities available throughout the year.
  • Chariot Bike Rides – Head out to Pollock Road and play some games and catch a ride on the Lion’s Chariot.
  • Discover Contemporary Art at HUB-Robeson Galleries – Explore free art exhibitions at HUB-Robeson Galleries, where student-centered experiences spark creativity, new ideas, and connections. Check out Feral Botanica by Hidenori Ishii, Recipes by Christine Sajecki, and In Dreams, a collection of 100 sculptural rabbits by Darla Jackson. There's always something new to discover! Be sure to stop by Art Alley to create your own experimental mini-painting—no experience necessary!
  • Voter Registration and Volunteer Involvement – Learn more about ways to get involved through trivia with the Student Leadership and Involvement office and update your voter registration too!
  • DIY Felt Pennants – Design and decorate your very own felt pennant to show off your personality and style. The perfect way to add style to your room. Sponsored by the Student Programming Association.
  • Airbrush Tattoos – Come get a temporary tattoo in HUB 112.
  • Poster Sale – Check out the wide range of posters to decorate your residence hall within Noontime Lounge.
  • Roaming Magician – Find our roaming magician and watch him perform some magic tricks.
  • Grab a Glowstick – Free glow stick necklaces and bracelets will be available for pick up at the HUB Information Desk throughout the event (while supplies last).
  • Bucket Battle – Face off head-to-head in this glow-in-the-dark tossing challenge! Aim a glowing ball into your opponent's set of trash cans and be the first to clear their targets. Winners get a spin on the prize wheel for a chance to take home fun prizes. 
  • Kona Ice – Beat the heat with an icy treat. Enjoy some shaved ice outside on Pollock Road (free while supplies last).
