NSO Housing & Meal Accommodations

For First-Year Students

If you will be living on campus in the fall, you will move into your assigned housing before you check-in for NSO. In order to do so, you need to register for "early arrival housing". There is a $20 early arrival fee to arrive on Wednesday that is waived for NSO participants, but you must register online to have the fee waived.

  1. Go to https://psu.irisregistration.com/Form/housing
  2. Create an IRIS account and click "Yes: I am a student who is living on campus."
  3. Click the box indicating that "I am sponsored by a Penn State Department".
  4. Indicate your arrival date of 8/16 and check-out date as 8/17.
  5. At checkout, use promo code NSOstudents17 to have the $20 fee waived.

Here is information from Penn State's Housing office about where to pick up your key

Please note: if you elect to arrive on Tuesday, August 15, you will be responsible for the $20 early arrival fee for Tuesday night.

If you will be commuting to campus for the fall 2017 semester, you are not eligible for early arrival housing. You will return home on the evening of Wednesday, August 16 and return to campus for Day 2 of NSO on Thursday, August 17.

For Parents & Family Members

NSO concludes at 5:30pm on Day 1 for parents & family members. Programming will resume at 8:30am on Day 2. Parents & family members are welcome to stay overnight in State College during NSO, but an overnight stay is not required of you. You may elect to stay in a local hotel, or to return home for the night if you live close to State College.

Meals are not provided for parents & family members during NSO. At check-in, you will receive additional information about on-campus and local dining options available.
